"NEIGHBORLY" BURGLARS HITTING QC
June 17, 2010
In the past few weeks area departments have experienced what we are calling the “Home For Sale” scam. When a home is listed for sale our suspect knocks on a home in the same neighborhood and informs whoever answers the door that they just purchased the listed house. While keeping this good neighbor engaged in conversation others break into their home and steal whatever they can as quickly as they can. A recent burglary in Moline netted these criminals plenty. Our current suspects are driving a white truck or van. They are described as olive-skinned, speaking in a foreign accent not familiar to the victim. If you see these subjects in your neighborhood please call police. If you know who is responsible you can collect up to $1000 cash by calling our tip line 309-762-9500.

VANDALS DAMAGE DAVENPORT CEMETERY
June 6, 2010

You will remain anonymous and receive up to $1000 cash for the arrest of those responsible for this senseless damage.

QUAD CITY SEX OFFENDER WEBSITES

Quad City Police and Crime Stoppers ask you to review the online sex offender websites for our two states. With approximately 635 sex offenders in the immediate Quad Cities we ask that you be aware of those required to register by law in your neighborhood. Educate yourself and learn how you can help us with compliance checks by visiting these websites. In Iowa go to www.iowasexoffender.com and in Illinois www.isp.state.il.us/sor/. Neighbors are encouraged to contact their local police department if they suspect a noncompliance issue with a sex offender. If you prefer to remain anonymous you can always contact Crime Stoppers, 309-762-9500.

DAVENPORT POLICE LOOKING FOR STOLEN VAN
March 14, 2010
Some crimes rise to that special level so when friends of the victim called our office recently we just had to make you aware and ask for your help. QUAD CITIES LAW ENFORCEMENT CONDUCT SEX OFFENDER SWEEP
November 1, 2009
This past week police from both sides of the river coordinated a sex offender compliancy check. Although conducted independently numerous times throughout the year, this coordinated effort before Halloween proved extremely successful. However, the first and by far most important line of defense for our children are the parents. QC area police ask that you visit the following sex offender websites and type in your address. In Illinois please go to www.isp.state.il.us/sor/, in Iowa www.iowasexoffender.com.  With vigilant compliancy checks and awareness by neighborhoods of potential dangers we can help keep our communities safe. If for any reason you have information of a sex offender who is non-compliant you can stay anonymous and get paid for your information by calling the Crime Stoppers tip line 309-762-9500.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
September 27, 2009
A recent shooting on the Moline-Rock Island border brought residents and city leaders together yet again to find a solution to the violence usually associated with our gang problem. For those who think we don’t have a gang problem you’re wrong, we do. But not all this violence can be neatly placed on them.  The neighbors who stepped up and attended the meeting heard the police mantras of “report the crime you see,” “the police can’t solve all your problems,” and “please get to know your neighbors." If you don’t care enough to get involved can you really complain when others will not? All Neighborhood Watch groups are supplemented by the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line. When you call us to share what you know we only take your information and assign you a code number. If the police make a felony arrest you will receive up to $1000! We pay you to clean up your neighborhood! This is one program police and neighbors agreed can help. Please call the tip line 309-762-9500.

CHILD ABDUCTION - TIPS FOR PARENTS
September 6, 2009

With the recent attempted abductions in our area it behooves us to remind parents of some basic tips. Insist that your children check with you before they leave home. Know where they are going, with whom, and when they will be back. Teach them to always call you if plans change and to use the buddy system wherever they end up. They should be taught to never approach strange automobiles and the tricks used by people who would do them harm like the “lost puppy” ploy. When parents suspect the worst they should not delay calling police. Have a recent color photograph available for the Officers and be prepared to provide a very detailed description of the child and the clothing they were wearing. If you see a suspicious vehicle around children, get the plate and a good description of the driver and call Crime Stoppers, 309-762-9500. You will always stay anonymous and if your tip leads to a felony arrest you could receive up to $1000.

One of these struck an innocent 38-year-old lady who had come out into her yard. Police do not believe she was the intended target. SWAN SHOT IN SCOTT COUNTY
April 12,2009
Early Thursday morning the 2nd of April a Direct TV representative heard several gunshots in the 24000 block of 247th Avenue area in Princeton, Iowa. The rep ran to the area where he found two subjects shooting into an animal pen. When the subjects realized someone was in the area they fled in a Ford Explorer or Jeep Cherokee. The representative was sickened by what he found as he approached the pen. The subjects had been shooting at a full-grown swan kept by the homeowner. Unfortunately, the swan succumbed to its injuries later that evening. More than a few people are troubled by this killing, including Sherriff Conard who has pledged to add $100 to our reward of up to $1000 cash. HELP STOP DOG FIGHTING
March 29, 2009
A recent increase in dog fighting reports here in the Quad Cities has Crime Stoppers again asking for your help in finding those responsible. This felony crime in both Iowa and Illinois is cruel not only for the dogs involved but for the children that may be exposed to the mistreatment of the animals. On top of that, generations of selective breeding for maximum aggressiveness, combined with sadistic training methods make these dogs capable of inflicting horrendous wounds or killing whatever they choose to attack. We encourage anyone that may have knowledge of a scheduled fight, the names of so-called “trainers” of these animals, or addresses where these dogs are kept, to call the Crime Stoppers tip line, 309-762-9500. Police and area Humane Societies are serious about stopping this type of activity. If your information leads to an arrest you could receive up to $1000 cash from us, and if your information leads to a dog fighting conviction, we will help you claim up to $2,500 from the Humane Society of the United States.

BEWARE OF BURGLARS' HOME REPAIR SCHEME
March 22, 2009

Do not hesitate to call police when you see this type of suspicious activity; but if you know who is responsible for these burglaries, contact us at Crime Stoppers 309-762-9500. If the information leads to the arrest of these individuals you will receive up to $1000 cash.

Several video poker games had been opened but the real loss was found in the office. The safe had been broken into and the contents strewn around the club. The bad guys were just too smart and were able to get away with this, or did they? Hold the presses - the deputies were able to retrieve a few pictures from that busted surveillance camera. HELP KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE!
April 27, 2008
Spring is here! The warmer weather brings trees to bud and flowers to bloom. Unfortunately, the nicer weather will find police dealing with the stupid and the dangerous. Some may even be wandering in or near your neighborhood. We encourage everyone to start a neighborhood watch this week. Call your local police department and learn how easy it is to formally have your group recognized. The time to start a watch group is now!  Don’t wait until after an incident has happened. Talk to your neighbors, watch out for your neighbors, and above all else call your police department if you see anything out of the ordinary. Sometimes a license plate or vehicle description can make all the difference in the world. If a group of young men are starting to gather in the street call us! Don’t wait until shots are fired and everyone is on the run. To report crime anonymously for cash call our tip line 309-762-9500.
