WATER DEPARMENT WORKER BURGLARIES 2018-001473 (2018/02/15)

There have been several reports in Davenport of 3 Hispanic males doing daytime burglaries while homeowners are home. These types of crimes are bold and downright frightening for the victims involved.  Two suspects will keep the victimes occupied while the other takes the valuables.  On February 10th,  a house in Moline was entered and cash was stolen while the home owners were present.  The male victim was outside removing snow when he was approached by a male Hispanic described as in his mid 30’s, unshaven, 5’6” tall, average weight wearing a dark colored hoodie, stocking cap and work boots.  He asked the victim if he could remove the snow from his roof because neighbors had damage to theirs from the snow.  He led the victim around the side of the house and kept him talking for over 15 minutes.  He had what looked like a two-way radio or microphone attached to his coat pocket.  The suspect asked about the victim's wife, where she was at and what her name was.  While the victim was being detained outside, a second male Hispanic suspect entered the house and when the victim’s wife confronted him he called her by name and said her husband said it was okay to come in and check the water.  He led her into a bathroom and ran the water and blocked her view into the hallway.  Both suspects left shortly after.  Later, the victims became suspicious and checked their valuables.  They found that two small safes had been pried open and a large amount of cash was taken.  It is surmised there was a third suspect who had entered while the residents were being distracted and had stolen the money.  Do you know who did this? Let us know! You can earn a cash reward. Tip line 309-762-9500 or tap the app P3 Tips.
