On Tuesday, December 12th, 2017 at approximately 08:44 AM, Moline Police responded to 2100 block 18th Avenue in reference to a resident finding a bullet hole in his residence.
The resident advised he heard a gunshot at shortly after midnight but did not observe the damage until the morning.
The source of the bullet was determined to have come from a neighboring apartment and a welfare check was conducted at the residence. There were several occupants of the apartment which were interviewed. No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
The incident appears to be a result of reckless and improper handling of a firearm.
During the investigation, Moline Police recovered a handgun and upon reviewing the case with the Rock Island County State’s Attorney’s office the following criminal charges were filed:
Brandt Michael Cooper, 26 year old, Moline resident has been charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
Brandt Cooper is not in custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest with his bond set at $75,000.
